28th July 2026

The activities of the women's environmental awareness exhibition, "Journey of Survival," concluded on Tuesday at Aden Mall in the capital, Aden. The exhibition was organised by Ruaa Centre for Strategic Studies, Consultancy and Training, with support and funding from the General Authority for Environmental Protection, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and the Small Grants Programme (SGP), as part of the "Save the Sea Turtles in the Gulf of Aden" project.

Dr Jaklin Al-Batani, Head of Ruaa Centre, stated that the exhibition successfully achieved its objectives of raising environmental awareness, strengthening partnerships between government institutions and civil society organisations, and highlighting the vital role of women in protecting sea turtles and conserving the coastal environment. She noted that these efforts contribute to fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.

Over the course of two days, the exhibition witnessed active participation from women's associations and civil society organisations, which showcased handicrafts and home-made products alongside awareness booths designed to promote public understanding of the importance of protecting sea turtles, conserving the coastal environment and biodiversity, while highlighting the role of women as key partners in environmental protection efforts.

At the closing ceremony, Ruaa Centre honoured the participating women's associations with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their valuable contributions to the success of the exhibition and their role in promoting environmental awareness and strengthening community engagement.

The Centre also honoured the General Authority for Environmental Protection in Aden in appreciation of its support and sponsorship of the project activities, as well as its contribution to the success of the exhibition and to ongoing efforts aimed at protecting sea turtles and preserving the environment.

Ruaa Centre further expressed its sincere appreciation to the leadership of the local authority in Al-Buraiqah District and the management of Aden Mall for their cooperation and support in ensuring the success of the exhibition, providing an appropriate venue for the event, and making it accessible to the public.
